As a US citizen, I am not familiar with any of the names mentioned here except Jimmy Carr. I feel the need to change that. Now I wish I had kept up with British comedy, because they have a lot of good acts that I have been apparently missing, and I can’t wait to hear more of this guy’s work. In the US, most of our mainstream acts are lame and only popular because the US is apparently stupid. Does anyone have recommendations?
@duckingforcover09 Ive also bought my ticket to see him live at the Town Hall, saw him last year there aswell and I genuinely thought that it was the most wittiest stand up routine that i’ve ever seen.
Stewart Lee is the don. I saw him live at demontford hall with his most recent tour-funniest night ever. It takes a lot more of a sophisticated wit to appreciate the material of Stewart Lee, a bit more than the simple minded ‘i’m happy because he’s happy’ audiences you get with mere court jesters like Michael Mcintyre or Lee Evans, that can hold the attention of the muppets that see them with bright colours and walking in a funny way.
omg … SO excited – seeing him live at the Festival twice this year (different shows – I’m not THAT sad!!!) … he is beyond brilliant. And is strangely attractive ! Ladies – anyone agree ?!
@j94c Hello. If Stewart Lee’s material flies so far over your head that you are forced to simply appropriate your beliefs regarding a different (and worse) comedian (that being Mcintyre in case I have lost you already) perhaps you should not have been blessed with the gift of sight, the power of thought or the art of speech. Instead, you should live your life as a mute, able to communicate only by noise and movement, the callow form of communication that brought Mcintyre notority.
More popular does not equal best. For example, typing like a borderline illiterate homophobe in the youtube comments section is pretty popular, but it’s all-round shit.
@frusciante39 joe pasqualies good for an hour or so of childishness and not having to think lol. and i do like inteligent comedians too, one of myfaves is demitri martin i recomend him if you dont know his work, and i enjoy the work of tim minchin aswell lol, i like all comedians except female ones. go onto my chanel and look at the my first stand up video, thatl show you what im about, ima comedian/actor myself haha. comment it let me know what you think pleasee
@ghostsaccount mate i’m almost jealous of you that you comedians you think of as being better are jimmy carr and frankie boyle, because you’ve got a world of amazing comedians to discover. Look up daniel kitson for a start, you’ve already found stewart lee which is good. I didn’t mean you were to old for Joe, i meant you were about 50 years too young, because at 18 most of your brain cells should still be working and you really shouldn’t find him funny. But if you do fair enough…
