I came, I saw, I cocked it up…and I started again!
www.topgear.com Fancy hearing a few classic Clarkson quotes? Late 70s American cars are given a grilling by motoring world’s biggest critic, Jeremy Clarkson in this high quality video from BBC car review show, Jeremy Clarkson’s Motorworld.

dude thats an ’86-’89Towncar… if itreally was the 1970′s versions this would have been a drive in the park! –and as for that petrol station…lets just say BP would need a lot more oil to spill–er.. supply

personally I love that car, I think it looks elegant, and the shocks are supposed to be loosely sprung it makes the ride soft and cushy. It’s not a sports car peeps. It’s Gangster

Well, it would help if the shocks were good. By the way, that’s a late 1980′s Lincoln – I doubt the presenter was capable of handling a 1970′s Continental.

@BlogShag Hahaha +1! Who’d like a Ford Fiesta or a Micra there, well unless you’d like, after 1000 miles of straight higways, blowing their little 4 cilinder engines up. I think it’s a matter of roads too. Big engines are slightly more required as they can cover more distance and constantly at a high speed, but no necessairly at high revs.
Ford Fiesta 5th gear, 65 mph… 3.000 maybe 3.500 revs.
Any V6 on earth, same speed… 500 lmao =)))
I may be wrong tho.

I love full sized American cars, not necissarily luxurious. IDK why my spelling is so bad right now. But I am American, I do find this funny, but IU love those old floatty big cars, they are so awsome!

@bigaussie68
Clarkson and co did an episode of Top Gear where they made fun of the crappy cars made by British Leyland in the 70s. It was a funny episode, and to be honest Leyland cars were probably a lot worse than this American car

@BlogShag yes absolutely true. Funny though, he doesn’t mention British cars of the 70′s were just as bad if not worse. The reason for that…….government involvement (hint, hint)!!

@MANTGA43062 , Yep you’re right about that. The first thing they do if they get an import Ford from USA is remove and replace the seat belt system. USA seat belt quality is subpar.

LOL! I laughed so hard at this video, ’cause it’s all true. I’m American by the way. 1. Part of the problem is the USA car companies have been sucked almost dry by the unions so they can’t make any profit on a small car. It costs them more to make a small car than what they are worth at suggested retail. 2. Their argument is too many Americans don’t want small cars. Have you seen the size of many Americans lately? They’re the size of whales.

I’ve driven and owned alot of Chryslers. It was part if my job, and I know that they’re just as well equipped, and designed well. The space inside them is much more than what you’d find in a renault., and even on standard cars you get alot of stuff.
